In memory… Grenfell: The 21st Floor
Tomorrow will be 45 months since the Grenfell Tower fire.
This week at the Grenfell Tower Inquiry we heard how the manufacturers of the ACM cladding, Arconic, 10 years before the fire, had considered what would happen if a building made with it’s Polyethelene (PE) core was in a fire and killed 60 or 70 people.
Last weekend I rewatched the BBC Panoramo documentary: Grenfell, the 21st Floor. Released just four months after the fire, it was deeply moving and perhaps more impactful that the first time I cried my way through it. I lived in Flat 185 on the 21st floor from 2011 to 2014, my time there filled with happy memories and the sounds of children playing in the lobby.
It beautifully captures for me what living in Grenfell was like.
And the impact of the actions and inactions of those involved in the refurbishment.
In memory of the El Wahabi family, Ligya Moore and Logan Isaac Gomez, who lost thier lives that night.

Thanks interesting stuff on testing and codes which relates to my PhD research on the historical emergence of building standards. Can I ask you some direct questions?
